Hey, I’m Thomas Mai — a film industry veteran originally from Denmark, now living in Brisbane, Australia. I’m happily married to Josie and a proud dad to our adventurous 10-year-old daughter, Isabella. With eight independent films under my belt, and as the former CEO of Trust Film Sales (the sales arm of Zentropa), I learned the ropes directly under my bosses Lars von Trier and Peter Aalbæk Jensen. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how the industry really ticks.

(For the avoidance of any doubt: I do not claim to have been the CEO of Zentropa — only the CEO of Trust Film Sales, which was owned by Zentropa.)

After three decades in the trenches of the movie biz, I figured I’d finally write my own thriller: Escape From Somalia. Simple, right?

Except it wasn’t. I hit a wall. Traditional publishing was slow, gatekept, and allergic to risk. Reader platforms were bloated with fluff, fanfic, and algorithm-choked junk. I wasn’t just stuck — I was furious.

So, I built the thing I wish existed.
